Description
The facelift – simply stop time
You don't necessarily have to look at your age. Whether you decide to have a facelift or not. Damage caused by too much sun, poor diet or the disadvantages of years of nicotine consumption can often be mitigated or repaired. A facelift provides more elasticity and a fresh and healthy appearance.

The facelift is one of the more demanding cosmetic surgeries, with the degree of intervention in the structures of the face varying. In addition, a facelift can cover different areas. Lifting involves tightening either skin or muscle tissue and removing excess skin. Lifting can also be done endoscopically, for example in the forehead area, where skin does not necessarily have to be removed.

Complications occur relatively rarely with a facelift. In the worst case, however, paralysis, nerve or circulatory disorders can occur. Sensory disturbances or feelings of tension usually subside after a while. In any case, we recommend that you take out insurance with beautyprotect for any necessary corrective or follow-up treatments. Please also note our information on preparation for and care after surgery.

Before the procedure
Tips for preparing for the facelift
In the preliminary consultation for the facelift, you will usually discuss everything important with your doctor. This primarily includes your medical history and what medications you are taking. As a reminder and as a checklist, we provide you with some important information here. Also read our general information

  • Talk to your doctor if you are currently taking anticoagulant medication. You should be prescribed replacement medication approximately two weeks before your facelift.
  • To avoid secondary bleeding, please do not take any painkillers, fever reducers or blood thinners. These include aspirin, other flu or painkillers, and alcohol.
  • Promote blood circulation in your face! Alternating showers from four weeks before the facelift as well as skin massages are suitable for this - and avoid cigarettes.
  • If your facelift is performed under general anesthesia, you should not eat anything after 10 p.m. the evening before the procedure.
  • The morning before the operation, clean your face thoroughly, but avoid using any creams or make-up afterwards.
  • Since you have to take it easy for two weeks after the operation and the after-effects of the operation are clearly visible in the facial area (such as scars, swelling or bruising), you should take time off for this period.
Aftercare
What you should consider after the facelift
Your face is one of the most sensitive areas of your body. A facelift is accompanied by swelling, slight bruising and pain - unfortunately this cannot be completely avoided. Take it easy and after just a few days you will feel significantly better. What else you should pay attention to:

  • Immediately following the operation, you will probably have to rest in bed for about a day
  • You will be prescribed medication to combat the pain, and cooling with ice will also alleviate feelings of tension.
  • You should continue to avoid smoking or alcohol for the first month after the facelift.
  • Your doctor will give you instructions on how to clean your wounds, but be careful when doing so - just dab instead of rubbing or wiping.
  • After about 10 days you can usually wear make-up again and wash normally.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and eat a high-protein diet.
  • If you have been given a facial corset, wear it consistently.
  • Avoid strenuous physical exertion to avoid bleeding. However, light bleeding is normal in the first few days.
  • You should not start exercising until at least two weeks after your facelift.
  • Use a high sun protection factor for your facial skin - avoid the sun and also the solarium.
